Side by Side Trail Riding Tips
Side by sides are great for trail riding, but it’s critical that you follow basic safety guidelines. Otherwise, you might end up getting seriously injured. Luckily, the experts at Sky Powersports Sanford have created this list of important side by side trail riding tips.
Stick to Designated Trails
The further you go off the established trail, the greater the risk that you’ll hit an obstacle you weren’t prepared for and suffer an accident. Not only that, but your UTV will trample whatever vegetation you encounter, causing harm to the environment. If you’re riding on state or federal land, going off trail is actually illegal and will result in a fine. Trails are established for a reason, so don’t ignore them!
Safety Equipment
Proper safety equipment is also very important when it comes to trail riding in your side by side. Your gear should include a helmet, goggles that have anti-fog/UV protection, and full-length clothing to help protect your skin in the event of a crash.
Be Polite
Always be polite and courteous when you encounter others on the trail. Respect the right of way and inform other riders of how many people are following behind you. If you’re the one deferring, move as far to the side as you safely can. Be sure to alert others if trail conditions are poor or otherwise unsafe. Finally, if you see someone stopped at the side of the trail, be ready to offer them assistance should they be having medical or mechanical problems.
